A craft-loving mummy with a soft spot for luxury Scottish textiles
Discover luxury handmade Harris Tweed cushions, alongside Scottish alpaca fashion accessories from headbands and snoods to infinity scarves.
All items are designed and handmade by me, Mrs D, a craft-loving mummy with a soft spot for luxury Scottish textiles. I spend the majority of my spare time creating, sewing, quilting and, most often, knitting! Give me a pair of knitting needles and a lovely soft ball of yarn and I will be happily lost for hours!
Over the past few years I have developed a love for designing my own knitting patterns, always with the aim of keeping my designs simple and stylish. Keeping it simple means that everyone can join in. I love the thought of encouraging people to pick up their knitting needles, even if that’s for the very first time.
If you love being creative, the art of knitting is experiencing such a wonderful revival – so why not join in? I would love you to pick up your needles and enjoy knitting your own by Mrs D design using one of our Scottish alpaca knitting kits.
Alternatively, treat yourself to by Mrs D beautifully soft Scottish alpaca yarn for your next knitting project. by Mrs D Luxury Scottish Alpaca Yarn is made from 100% Scottish alpaca fleece spun in Scotland at a specialist alpaca fibre processing mill. Alpaca yarn is a delight to knit with!
I have been a very busy bee recently and have been developing a new product line – Harris Tweed Homewares. Harris Tweed is a very special woollen cloth, handwoven by generations of islanders in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. It is protected by an Act of Parliament and only genuine Harris Tweed can bear the Orb Mark (as seen on the label stitched to the back of my cushions).
As I am making my Harris Tweed cushions, I feel such an affinity with the islanders who lovingly wove the fabric in their stunning island homes. There is something about working with Harris Tweed that feels so special. It’s almost as if the history of this world-renowned fabric is carried in every cut of the cloth and, ultimately, to the finished item.
